The Doane Family Association of America, Inc. offers college scholarships. For the 2009-2010 school year 20 students were granted between $1000 and $1500.

Funds are allocated in two ways:

1. The Doane Family Foundation Fund

The Doane Family Foundation assists non-family members who wish to attend Doane College in Crete, NE.

With input from the Doane Family Foundation Board of Directors, Doane College administers this fund and determines the recipients of those funds.

2. The Doane Family Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the family fund is to assist descendants of Deacon John Doane who wish to attend Doane College — or any accredited institution of higher learning. These family scholarships are available for undergraduate studies. The Doane Family Foundation Board of Directors administers this fund.

To apply for a scholarship from the Doane Family Foundation:

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Doane Family Association member or son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter of a DFA member
  2. Full time student enrolled in an undergraduate, degree-seeking program in an accredited institution of higher learning
  3. Demonstrate need by submitting a processed copy of a current year Free Application for Federal
    Student Aid (FAFSA) form
  4. Completion of application and successful essay submission

Steps to apply:

  • By February 28 submit the completed Doane Family Foundation Scholarship application for the following academic year. Send your application form, an essay, and a copy of your current year’s Free Application For Student Aid results (FAFSA) to the address printed on the form.
  • For applicants not attending Doane College a certificate of enrollment for the ensuing year — in their institution of choice — must be submitted to the address noted on the original application. Once received and processed a check is made co-payable to the student and the student’s college.
  • On May 1 the Foundation will announce the scholarship awards and inform the recipients.
How to contribute to the Doane scholarship fund

Scholarships are endowed by the Doane Family Association of America, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for your generous financial donation.
