Washington is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States located north of Oregon, west of Idaho and south of the Canadian province of British Columbia, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean.

Washington was carved out of the western part of Washington Territory which had been ceded by Britain in 1846 by the Oregon Treaty as settlement of the Oregon Boundary Dispute.

It was admitted to the Union as the 42nd state in 1889. ~ Wikipedia

Often referred to by its full title, Washington State, to distinguish it from Washington, D.C., Washington offers rugged coastline, deserts, forests, mountains, volcanoes, and hundreds of coastal islands to explore.

The Cascade Mountains bisect the state, with the damp forested coastal areas to the west, and pineforests, deserts and irrigated farmland of the Columbia River Plateau to the east. ~ Wikitravel

New chapter members sought in Washington

June 2, 2012 Local Comments

We would love to have you join our chapter of the Doane Family Association of America, Inc. Most of our meetings and reunions occur in Southwest Washington and Northern Oregon. If you are interested in starting a Doane chapter perhaps closer to where you live in Washington, here is what will help you get started:

Have an active interest in the descendants of Deacon John Doane and the Doane Family Association of Amercia, Inc.

Be willing to organize a chapter reunion once a year.

Be willing to follow the regional bylaws and seek advice from the regional vice-president should you desire to update, change or alter your bylaws.

Be committed to sending an annual report of your chapter activities to the regional vice-president.

Be willing to collect dues to pay for services to advance the chapter and help promote chapter activities.

Consider preparing a short history of your branch of the Doane Family, sharing it with your chapter members and sending it to the regional website so we can help promote your chapter

Consider attending a national reunion at some time in your life.

It’s our hope that we can partner with those who enjoy family, tracing their own history and meeting others with like interests. The association is full of dedicated people across the U.S., in England and Austrailia who are genealogy enthusiasts, first class history dectectives, love to travel, value education, and are very interested in the descendants of Deacon John Doane.

We are glad to provide you with information, expertise and encouragement while starting your own chapter. Email us for more information
